Duration of residency training in Singapore
The duration of residency training accredited by ACGME-I and that required for exit certification by the Specialists Accreditation Board is listed in the following table. Where the duration for accreditation exceeds that of ACGME-I, the remaining time will be accredited by the Joint Committee on Specialist Training (JCST).

Singapore Country Addendum to the ACGME-I Advanced Specialty Requirements
The Singapore Country Addendum to the ACGME-I Advanced Specialty Requirements prescribes specialty-specific programme requirements applicable to residency programmes in Singapore as discussed with the ACGME-I and the Singapore Residency Advisory Committees (RAC).
Read together with the ACGME-I Advanced Specialty Requirements, they represent the requirements of graduate medical education in the specialties listed.

On an obstetrics and gynaecology service, adequate supervision requires the 24-hour presence of faculty in the hospital except when residents are not assigned in-house call responsibilities.
Singapore Clarification
In Singapore, physicians who have obtained the following are considered as appropriate supervisor of on-call residents in obstetrics and gynaecology:
a) have completed at least 4 years of recognised training in Obstetrics and Gynaecology;
b) have successfully passed M.Med (O&G) or MRCOG; and
c) have been appointed by the Sponsoring Institution to undergo advanced specialist education in obstetrics and gynaecology (i.e., Advanced Specialist Training).
Requested Variation
The current Residency training programme has a duration of (TY+ 48) + 24 months. The variation allows the sponsoring institution’s credentialed registrar physician in obstetrics and gynaecology who has completed Housemanship + 4 years of training as a specialist to supervise junior residents on-call.
Such Registrar physicians have completed basic specialist training and are now undergoing advanced specialty training. They have passed the Royal College (UK, Australia) or Masters of Medicine (Singapore) examinations and provide 24/7 coverage in the hospital and supervise junior medical staff, medical officers and basic specialist trainees in the current UK system.
The Residency Advisory Committee for Obstetrics and Gynaecology judged that this would put registrar physicians at the same minimum level for US attending physicians.
Credentialing and Oversight
The Sponsoring Institution, through the Program Director and Designated Institutional Official, will appoint qualified registrar physicians as supervisors of the on-call residents. The Specialists Accreditation Board through the Joint Committee on Specialty Training and the obstetrics and gynecology Residency Advisory Committee (RAC) will have oversight for this process.
Requirements for progression to senior resident
Pass M.Med (O&G) or MRCOG
PD certification of successful completion of R4 with effect from 16 March 2018 for all O&G residents

Residents in O&G will co-pay a monthly training fee for the entire duration of their training. The training fee is subject to revision.
