Call for Family Medicine Specialist (FMS) Grandfathering Applications from 1 November 2025

1.    Call for FMS grandfathering applications with the following instructions on the two-phase application approach:

(A) PHASE 1: FAMILY PHYSICIANS WHO HAVE BEEN AWARDED FCFP(S) ON AND BEFORE 30 NOVEMBER 2025

a.     Applicants in this category will be given 12 months to submit their applications i.e. application to close on 31 October 2026. A reminder will be sent 6 months before closing.

b.     The applications will be processed within 2-3 weeks after complete documentation has been received.

(B) PHASE 2: FAMILY PHYSICIANS WHO HAVE BEEN AWARDED FCFP(S) AFTER 30 NOVEMBER 2025

a.     Applicants in this category should submit their applications within 6 months from FCFP(S) conferment.

b.     The applications will be processed within 2-3 weeks after complete documentation has been received.

c.     The grandfathering window will close 6 months from the conferment of the last batch of FCFP(S) in 2030*.  

*Pending the introduction of a new advanced family medicine (AFM) programme which would set the standards for specialist accreditation in family medicine. The first intake is tentatively expected to be enrolled from AY2028.

• Applications should only be submitted on PRS from 1 November 2025.

• Applications received after the respective deadlines will be rejected.

• Applicants should adhere to the deadlines strictly as the grandfathering window is time limited.

2.     All applications for specialist accreditation should be submitted via the Professional Registration System (PRS) from 1 November 2025 with the form in Annex attached, completed together with the relevant supporting document(s). The form can be downloaded from the SAB Website. You will also be prompted to submit an application for specialist registration with the Singapore Medical Council (SMC) on PRS.
